The latest addition to AVX 's broadening line of one-piece card edge connectors is the vertical dual row top entry version 9159-650 series.

This is an extension of the popular single row 9159-550 series.

AVX has developed this compact connector based on feedback from the market and subsequently it is packed with several key features that provide significant functionality in a broad range of applications.

The surface mount vertical dual row, top entry card edge connector has staggered dual row contacts that allow for twice the number of positions in similar size connector also enabling it to be used with double sided tracked PCB’s.

The connectors are offered in 4 to 12 positions and can be specified with an optional polarisation feature where the mating PCB can be designed to form a key, this helps to avoid mis-mating and incorrect insertion of the PCB into the connector.

The one-piece surface mount connectors use a proven contact system for enhanced reliability, signal integrity and are able to handle a full 2.5A per contact current rating. The connectors are designed for mating with standard 1.6mm thickness PCB boards with gold plated pads.

The connector housings are moulded from high temperature Nylon material which is flame retardant to the UL94V-0 standard, the contacts are formed from high strength beryllium copper with tin over nickel finish on the solder pads and gold over nickel finish on the contact surfaces for enhanced durability.

The 9159-650 series has an operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.

They are supplied on tape and reel packaging and can be specified with optional kapton tape fitted to the top surface of the connectors for use with automated pick and place equipment.

The AVX 9159-650 series of vertical dual row, top entry card edge connectors are suitable for a wide range of applications where a cost effective and reliable method of connecting a daughterboard to a motherboard is required, these include industrial controls, lighting, automotive and transport systems, instrumentation and many more.

Voltage rating is 300VAC.

A gold-plated BeCu contact system is offered for high reliability in harsh environments.

The connectors are in stock at Anglia Components.
