Connector system supports data rates up to 25Gbps
Expanding the company's high-speed connector portfolio, ERNI electronics has introduced the ERmet ZDHD family. The high density high-speed connector system, which supports data rates of up to 25Gbps, is available in 4- and 6-pair male and female versions.
Demanding 100Gbps systems can be built using the ERmet ZDHD connectors, using four 25Gbps channels according to the IEEE 802.3bj standard. the connector system meets the telecomms and datacomms demand for higher contact density with many differential signal contacts per inch. The ERmet ZDHD system provides 14 contact rows per inch with six or four differential signal pairs per row. and robust alignment guides on male side walls to support reliable mating.
The pitch between the rows was reduced to only 1.8mm and the pitch between the differential pairs within a row was reduced to 3.6mm in order to reach this high signal density. Downsized pressfit technology with 0.46mm diameter hole is required for this size reduction, enabling an optimised crosstalk behaviour.
