Connector simplifies maintenance of storage batteries
Designed to simplify assembly, installation and maintenance of storage batteries, the PS2 series connector has been released by Hirose. Featuring a plug-and-play design, the connector removes the need for on-site cable wiring, which reduces worker exposure to electrical lines. The connector eliminates the need to disconnect and reconnect wires to the battery module, reducing maintenance time.
100-300A is supported by the connector's power contacts and up to 5A by the signal contacts. Utilising a first-mate/last-break contact design, the connector provides sequential power and signal mating. To achieve a higher current carrying capability, the power contacts have multiple contact springs with a crown shape, which decreases contact resistance and heat generation. This design also enables the connector to provide secure contact in vibration endured environments.
Floating screws that absorb misalignment during mating in X and Y directions up to ±2.5mm are offered with the connector. A quick and easy plug-in connection is enabled by the floating structure. The crimp method can be used to terminate signal contacts.
A signal rated current of 5A, a power rated voltage of 1000VAC and a signal rated voltage of 300VAC are provided by the 300A model. The model also offers a power rated contact resistance of 0.3mΩ, a signal rated contact resistance of 35mΩ and an insulation resistance of 5000MΩ, minimum at 125VDC.
The connector, which is available in 100, 200 and 300A power rating models, offers up to 42 positions. It is RoHS-compliant and operates from -40 to +105°C.
