Specialist in wireless communications solutions, JMA Wireless, has partnered with HUBER+SUHNER, a supplier in FO and RF connectivity for the global communication market, to provide an economical hybrid power plus fibre Cell Site Cabling Solution (FttA+PttA) on the market.

By complementing a small size, modern design, hybrid cable system with a compact and highly innovative DC up-converter, this new offering helps to alleviate mobile operators’ CAPEX and OPEX leasing issues.

Today, carriers are deploying dual band, 4X4 MIMO (multiple input, multiple output), high powered remote radio heads (RRHs) at their macro sites. These radios require greater DC power consumption as compared to traditional low-power radios. The current hybrid power/fibre cable infrastructure simply will not support these high power (HP) radios at distances over 200’ due to greater voltage drops.

The voltage drop challenge is alleviated with PowerBoost, an inline voltage up-converter solution from JMA Wireless. Combined with the HUBER+SUHNER newly released high density 12x24 hybrid power/fibre cable, carriers can now power up to 12 dual/single band remote radio heads with a single hybrid cable while maintaining distances of up to 600’.

“The industry’s smallest voltage up-converter, PowerBoost from JMA Wireless, pairs naturally with the HUBER+SUHNER high-density hybrid cable offering,” said Shawn Chawgo, Vice President of Product Line Management – Transmission Systems at JMA Wireless. “This combination offers our customers the smallest and least expensive solution for their 4G and 5G high-power radio deployments.”

Patrik Schönenberger, Head of Business Unit Fiber Connectivity Outdoor at HUBER+SUHNER AG, stated: “For HUBER+SUHNER, the JMA Wireless DC power up-converter family with its modularity and high-density features, is a perfect complement to our modular MASTERLINE hybrid trunk cable portfolio. This smart combination enables us to offer our customers in mobile network operations site-specific fibre and power connectivity solutions exactly addressing particular power challenges of typical macro cell site enhancements related to the upcoming 5G network evolution.”

JMA Wireless’ PowerBoost significantly reduces expansion time, cabling costs and incremental tower loading by offering the lowest capital and operational investments needed, smallest footprint (one third smaller than competition), operational efficiency, a scalable system architecture, and lastly, power assurance.

Bill Burress, Sales Director, Fiber Optic Division, North America at HUBER+SUHNER, stated: “We are excited to partner with JMA Wireless on this new total powering solution. Together we are making it easier for our customers to procure all of their macro powering infrastructure from a single supplier.”

The HD 12×24 Low Inductance Hybrid cable, the newest addition to the HUBER+SUHNER MASTERLINE Classic Hybrid cable portfolio, offers optimisation for dual-band high powered radios and 12-OVP installations. The outstanding benefits include; extremely attractive CAPEX and OPEX savings, plus extra potential of re-negotiating tower leases, simple architecture offering high flexibility ideal for new build as well as side modifications, light weight, low wind load, and a superior grounding solution.

As experienced long-term quality partner in the global FttA customer project market, HUBER+SUHNER, is complementing these features by offering its turnkey services covering technical and sales support at market level, free training programs for all contractors, and a ten year warranty.
