The VAL-U-LOK connector family from Tyco Electronics now includes housings that meet the requirements of IEC 60335-1 for glow-wire ignition temperature and glow-wire flammability index. For many years retractable shroud plugs have been used on electrical equipment sometimes rated up to 240V AC. In recent years safety standard IEC 61010-031 has precluded their use in handheld applications except for voltages below 30V AC - 60V DC.
