Tyco Electronics adds glow-wire compatibility in VAL-U-LOK connector line
The VAL-U-LOK connector family from Tyco Electronics now includes housings that meet the requirements of IEC 60335-1 for glow-wire ignition temperature and glow-wire flammability index. IEC 60335-1 addresses safety requirements in household appliances. While the standard applies primarily to appliances sold in Europe, demand for glow-wire-compatible housing is growing worldwide as manufacturers look to meet global market requirements.
Retractable shroud plugs from Multi-Contact rated up to 600V
For many years retractable shroud plugs have been used on electrical equipment sometimes rated up to 240V AC. In recent years safety standard IEC 61010-031 has precluded their use in handheld applications except for voltages below 30V AC - 60V DC. However, there is still older test equipment in use which will not accept fixed shroud plugs.
1mm SMT Connectors Now Available with 36 Positions
Mezza-pede SMT Connectors from Advanced Interconnections are now available with 36 positions. Designed for 1mm pitch micro board-to-board and flex cable-to-board applications, the low profile Mezza-pede Connector system has passed the mixed flowing gas (MFG) test and is especially suited for high reliability applications from military to medical and other demanding environments.
Crimp connector module has 100 A rating for rail applications
HARTING has added a 2-pin 100 A crimp module to its Han-Modular range of heavy-duty industrial connectors. The combination of crimp technology and the high current rating makes the new module ideally suited to the requirements of the rail industry, where crimp connectors are widely used.
Tyco's connector brings power to LEDs
This SMT thru-board connector from Tyco provides a means to bring power from the underside of an FR4 or aluminium-clad pc board, eliminating issues of dressing wires on the top side of LED boards. The 2-position through 6-position connector surface-mounts on the top of the board, passing through the board to present an underside interface. The connector mates with standard Mini CT connectors. The inverted design allows simpler assembly and inst...
High density M12 connectors meet IP69k protection
Molex has announced that its BradConnectivity Ultra-Lock range has been installed into the new Modulfill bottling equipment from Krones, the world market leader in beverage filling and packaging technology. Thank to a stainless steel version, Molex’s M12 quick connector system meets Krones’ strict standards of hygienic design, as well as the most stringent requirements regarding tightness and reliability.
AVX’s Board-to-Board Connectors Save Board Space
AVX has developed a series of low-profile board-to-board connectors that feature a small form factor of 3.0mm stacking height with a 0.4mm pitch contact. Designated the 5846 Series, the connectors provide increased board space for high-density power components placed between PCBs. The rugged board-to-board connectors are constructed in a pinched contact structure and feature a fully insulated bottom plate that protects the contacts, making the de...
