Racks address increasing compactness of devices

In addition to its 84HP VM CompactPCI Serial line featuring a 9-slot Ethernet Full Mesh backplane, which was already presented at SPS, HEITEC introduces two 42HP 4U platforms for the mounting of 3U cards.

The HEIpac Vario-A CPCI-S, pictured, is a system platform derived from the flexible and proven Vario rackfamily with 5-slot Ethernet Star backplane, including competitive bottom-up cooling by axial fans and power supplies tailored to the customer’s requirements - from most cost-efficient ATX up to pluggable and redundant power supply units. The robust housing offers affordable access to the CompactPCI Serial world.

The other system platform presented, the HEIpac VM-R CPCI-S in 4U, can be used either as a desktop case or as a rack. It features a radial fan unit and is very well suited for customers whose environment requires cooling from front to back. The VM housing can be customised in terms of colour as desired.

A broad application portfolio can be covered due to the flexibility provided by two cooling options, customisable widths of up to 84HP and scalable power supply levels. Depending on the application, hybrid backplanes can be used with this case equally well. This allows customers to use both classical CompactPCI boards and CompactPCI Serial modules, via a properly designed system slot card. The mentioned housings can be adapted to alternative backplane solutions such as VPX.

HEITEC has also expanded its packaging portfolio with a 19" 1U industrial standard case, a suitable base for miniaturisation and flexible handling due to its compactness.

The application trend in the industrial sector is towards smaller size, and applications formerly packaged in 2 or 4U systems should now find room in a 1U chassis. Taking this development into account, HEITEC has developed an affordable, stable case for 1U mounting solutions based on the proven 19" standard. By default, the HEIbox ECO is available in five different depths (150, 200, 250, 300 and 350mm) for maximum flexibility and adaptability to the design specifications, featuring the best possible interior space utilisation.

The intelligent combination of EMC gaskets and novel EMC mesh tape provides excellent attenuation levels with optional EMC expansion. For fast prototyping, the aluminium profile face plates and rear metal sheets can be fast and easily arranged, colour-customised and adapted to customer requirements. The HEIbox ECO is available as of March 2015.

The CompactPCI Serial platforms are available as of Q2/2015.
