Low Cost Cabinet Hardware Management Interface

To complement the Austin Hughes Smart range of Card Handles, PDUs and Fan Units, they have now developed a simple graphic user interface to centralize the management of either a small or large number of data centre server cabinets. This allows intelligent secure physical layer card access that remotely releases the cabinets locking handles as well remote management of intelligent PDUs and fan units.
The management interface includes a front end featuring management profiles, visitor access and operating times. The main screen consists of a data room floor plan with various user friendly icons showing the current status of the various cabinets. This allows the user to remotely manage cabinets. By double clicking a particular cabinet icon a table will show the status including doors open/closed using smart card ID. On this screen there is also a remote opening function as well as temperature and humidity inside the cabinets recorded from sensors fixed directly to the doors. Furthermore the same screen indicates the current being drawn through individual PDU sockets and the maximum current alarm settings as well as the status of individual fan units.

The second level interface on each function provides much more detail including a door access log of the complete history over the time period selected a remote door access log, environmental curve diagrams for continuous temperature monitoring. Switch on/off functions of individual outlets sockets, details of aggregate current data in assigned circuits as well as fan on/off plus fan speed data. Management and audit tools cover detailed access logs and event occurrences for audit purposes. Filtering and searching on specific dates or racks etcetera is also possible. The Software management system allows for alarming of unauthorized access via E-mail or SNMP. Software packages are designed to be simple / low cost and require a node license per cabinet plus a matrix server license for a single client with up to eight simultaneous clients available
