Authorised distributor Mouser Electronics is now stocking the CEC173x evaluation kit (EV42J24A) from Microchip Technology.

It is an evaluation and development kit for the CEC173x Trust Shield family of platform root of trust controllers. The kit allows users to evaluate and test security features for external root of trust (EROT) implementation in data centres, telecom, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms and applications.

The kit features an 84-pin socket for flexible evaluation of CEC1736 or CEC1734 devices in 84-pin packages.

It includes three samples of each of the CEC1736-TFLX, CEC1736-TCSM, CEC1734-TFLX, and CEC1734-TCSM Trust Shield platform root of trust controllers.

Together with the Trust Platform Design Suite (TPDS) tool, the kit enables rapid prototyping and development of NIST and OCP recommended security features: secure boot, secure update, crisis recovery, attestation, SPI monitor, and transfer of ownership.

The CEC173x evaluation kit also features an MEC1723 embedded controller to emulate a host processor, SPI Flash memory for both normal operation and failure scenarios, and connectors designed to interface with external application processors.

For debugging and programming, the EV42J24A kit includes one 1x8 PICKIT4 header for the CEC173x and one 1x8 PICKIT4 header for the MEC1723. The evaluation kit also offers GPIOs/I2C headers for optional customization development.

The CEC173x Trust Shield family enables fast development of the fully configurable microcontroller-based root of trust solution to get a design to market quickly.
