Intel’s DK50 Series Gateway Solution for the Internet of Things (IoT) is now available at Mouser Electronics. It uses the Intel Galileo Arduino‑certified development board which is based on the Intel Quark SoC X1000 processor. The solution provides internet connectivity for devices that do not directly support internet connectivity.

It acts as a gateway for these devices: the devices connect to the DK50 using their standard interface, while the DK50 hardware and software allows those devices access to the internet. This allows legacy industrial devices that would ordinarily not have internet connectivity to connect to the internet.

The solution comes with pre-validated firmware that delivers an application‑ready platform. Firmware includes the Wind River Intelligent Device Platform XT development environment, a scalable and secure development environment that simplifies the deployment of IoT gateways. Also available is the McAfee Embedded Control Technologies, a powerful solution that protects the integrity of embedded code while automating the enforcement of software change control policies.

Both are part of the Intel Gateway Solutions for IoT, a family of solutions that allow developers to seamlessly connect legacy devices to the internet in an intelligent manner.

The Intel DK50 Gateway software is based on Wind River Linux 5.0.1. The software supports web-based configuration interfaces with programming support for Java, Lua, and OSGi. SSL security is included. Connectivity options include Cellular 2G/3G/4G, Bluetooth, serial ports, USB, VPN, ZigBee, and Wi‑Fi access point.
