ERI, NGK and TOREX develop energy harvesting demo board
ERI Inc., NGK INSULATORS, LTD., and Torex Semiconductor Ltd have jointly developed the Environmental Power Generation Demo Board (EsBLE).
EsBLE integrates NGK's ultra-thin and compact lithium-ion rechargeable battery EnerCera, Torex's ultra-low power consumption IC, and ERI's low-power wireless technology. This board measures temperature, humidity, and pressure using power generated from energy harvesting sources such as solar panels and vibration generators and transmits the data via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy).
Energy harvesting traditionally faces challenges due to the small amount of power generated and the variability of power output depending on environmental conditions. By combining the technologies of the three companies, stable sensing and transmission are achieved even with the unstable power from harvesting sources.
The EsBLE TYPE1 is a harvest-to-battery charging board, an ultra-low power high-efficiency power supply board, and a system board for measurement, communication, and control, allowing for verification under various specifications.
The EsBLE TYPE2 is an all-in-one board that implements all necessary functions. By simply connecting it to an energy harvesting source, it enables measurement with various sensors and data transmission via BLE.
