Analog Devices AD9652-310EBZ Dual 16-bit analog‑to‑digital converter (ADC) Evaluation Board will make its debut on distribution shelves at Mouser Electronics. The AD9652 ADC captures data at 310MSPS and has a high speed pipelined architecture. Mouser says that it is the first to stock the Evaluation Board.

It is required to begin designing with the AD9652 ADC, which targets demanding high speed signal sampling applications requiring exceptional dynamic range over a wide frequency range. The AD9652 can sample signals as fast as 465 MHz. Analog signals are first fed to a dual, buffered front-end sample-and-hold circuit. The signal then goes into a pipelined switched-capacitor ADC.

This unique architecture combines the accuracy of a pipelined converter, with the stability and performance of a buffered sample-and-hold. The ADC has digital processing blocks to continuously track and correct any internal errors that occur at any pipeline stage, ensuring continuous performance over various operating conditions.

An on-chip buffer and amplifier simplifies board design by reducing external components. On-chip dithering improves the accuracy of the device by reducing signal distortion that can happen due to input signal amplification. An SPI interface allows configuration of many of the ADC options including power down modes, input buffer termination impedance, selecting the internal or external voltage references, and enabling the internal temperature sensor.

The Evaluation Board interfaces to an HSC-ADC-EVALCZ High Speed Data Capture Board, also available from Mouser Electronics.

Target applications for the AD9652 include communications systems and testers, instrumentation, radar receivers, secure communications systems, smart antennas, and high speed data acquisition systems.
