Development board delivers low cost Linux-based designs
SILICA used the embedded world exhibition as the launch pad for a new ArchiTech development board that offers a low cost streamlined platform for Linux based designs. The ArchiTech Hachiko board is supplied with a Linux kernel optimised for the Renesas RZ/A1H MCU, to work with a small memory footprint together with a BSP (Board Support Package) for the on-board peripherals, minimising development time.
Compact COM targets mission critical applications
Equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor, the CB70C COM module from Men Mikro Elektronikx offers high computing performance on a small form factor board. Based on the new Rugged COM Express standard, it is also well suited for use in mission-critical applications. Rugged COM Express or VITA 59 is a new standard which is based on the proven PICMG COM Express standard.
SBC measures standby power in milliwatts & standby time in days
Based on Intel’s first SoC E3800 Atom product family, the ADLE3800PC PCIe/104 SBC has been announced by ADL Embedded Solutions. The SBC offers superior compute performance and energy efficiency and has Intel’s 7th generation graphics engine for stunning graphics performance.
COMs offer high scalability & Gen7 Intel HD graphics
Presented at embedded World 2014, two compac COM Express families were announced by Kontron. Both families integrate Intel Atom E3800 series processors and Intel Celeron N2900 / J1900 series processors, with the company offering 16 different configuration options in this COM Express Computer-on-Module performance class.
COM incorporate x86 processor for high graphics performance
The ultra low-power SMARC COM, with Intel Atom processor E3800 series, has been announced by Kontron. The company claims that the device is the world's first x86 SoC processor to become available on a low-profile mini-computer form factor (82 mm x 50 mm).
RIoT board community website goes live
element14 and RIoTboard.org have launched the official community website for the RIoTboard. It will serve as the launch pad for innovative open source projects to enable the Internet of Things (IoT). Designers will be encouraged to join the RIoTboard revolution at the site, where they can buy, design and register their projects.
Development kit eases implementation of Bluetooth module
MSC Technologies is showing the BMSKTOPASM369BT development kit from Toshiba today (Feb 25) at embedded world 2014 in Nuremberg. The kit is a completely new development platform for Panasonic’s PAN1026 embedded Bluetooth Smart Ready module that recently turned into series production.
Cortex-A5 evaluation kit speeds microprocessor-based designs
Farnell element14 and Atmel today (February 25) announced the launch of Atmel’s new SAMA5D3 Xplained evaluation kit, a low-cost, fast prototyping and evaluation platform for microprocessor-based design. The board, which is based on Atmel’s SAMA5D3 ARM Cortex-A5 processor-based MPU, comes with a rich set of ready-to-use connectivity and storage peripherals, along with Arduino shield-compatible expansion headers for easy customisation.
Development boards support "Arduino Shields"
The new Nucleo Development Boards from ST Microelectronics are now available at Mouser Electronics. The boards target anyone that wants to get started using ST's STM32 product families featuring ARM Cortex‑M0, Cortex‑M3, and Cortex‑M4 microcontrollers, and are compatible with a wide range of expansion boards.
Custom cPCI backplanes deliver robust bus architecture
Highlighting how the platform provides a good base for customisation, Verotec has reported that they delivered a custom 6U, 2 x 4 Slot CompactPCI backplane for a flight simulation application.
