Sensor board adds accuracy to prototypes
The new 9-axis Freescale Sensor Toolbox Breakout Board, BRKT-STBC-AGM01, features three of the latest sensing technologies incorporated onto a single board, and is a smaller-footprint version of the recently launched FRDM-STBC-AGM01. It is now being shipped by Farnell element14. These sensing technologies allow users to determine motion, position and location as well as angle of rotation.
Server & workstation motherboards support next-gen processors
GIGABYTE Technology has announced, in coordination with Intel's official launch, that its entire line-up of C220 / H87 server and workstation motherboards now supports the Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 V4 product family. Formerly known as Broadwell-E3, these single socket server and workstation processors are based on 14nm process technology.
Development package enables better embedded systems
Helping engineers implement better embedded systems, FTDI Chip has worked with MikroElektronika to introduce a cost effective development package based on the ground-breaking FT90x MCU series. For the launch, a free MikroElektronika Clicker 2 board worth $39.95 is being offered with every FT90x Compiler license purchase.
Dual socket server board suits core-intensive applications
GIGABYTE Technology has announced its first cache-coherent, dual socket ARM server board, the MT70-HD0, and its associated 2U rackmount, the H270-T70. These two models, based on the Cavium ThunderX ARMv8 processor, accelerate GIGABYTE’s recent efforts to bring accomplished ARM-based server products to the market thereby opening doors for scale-out server workloads.
Genie escapes to promise flexibility and ease of use
A new, PC compatible, embedded computing platform has been launched by Ginsbury. The Ginsbury Genie is a low power system, complete with a fully integrated TFT display that offers flexibility, ease of use and PC compatibility combined with robustness and longevity for many industrial and embedded applications.
MEMs sensor development platform targets M2M/IoT
A new evaluation platform for MEMS and environmental sensors, created by linking the Cinterion Concept Board by Gemalto to a STMicroelectronics NUCLEO expansion board has been unveiled by Anglia Components. Using source code supplied by Anglia, designers can request measurements such as temperature, humidity, pressure, co-ordinates and g-force from the on-board sensors using SMS communication or AT commands.
AMC features four SATA III drives for nearly 2TB of storage
An AMC with four SATA III drives for nearly 2TB of storage in one module has been released by VadaTech. The AMC623 is a mid-size, single module AMC that can support RAID 0, 1 and 10 for striping and mirroring options.
Reference design kit reduces IC count, time & cost
Linear has introduced an IO-Link (IEC 61131-9) reference design kit, which includes the DC2228A 8-port IO-Link master and DC2227A IO-Link device reference designs. With over 2.19m IO-Link nodes installed worldwide, the growing demand for larger networks is addressed by the reference design kit, which reduces IC count, development costs and time to market.
OpenVPX backplane features both optical & RF slots
Suitable for use in either optical or RF applications, Elma Electronic has introduced a 3U three-slot OpenVPX backplane which has been designed to meet VITA 65. The versatile backplane is extremely useful in environments that require various slot-to-slot optical or RF interconnects or that require optical or RF I/O together with a high speed data plane connection to slot one.
Low-power SoC's MIPS CPU balances size & performance
Imagination Technologies reports that a multi-core processor from Russian fabless IC company Baikal Electronics integrates ImgTec’s latest MIPS Warrior P-class P5600 CPU. Baikal created the Baikal-T1 with a focus on versatility, high operating frequency and low power consumption to allow its customers to build efficient solutions for telecomms, industrial automation and embedded systems.
