Image sensors for advanced driver assistance systems
Expanding their product portfolio for automotive imaging, Omnivision has introduced the single-chip OV10626 AutoVision sensor alongside the OV480 electronic distortion correction solution. The image sensor delivers high dynamic range (HDR) and excellent low-light sensitivity, while the companion chip supports it by delivering best-in-class electronic distortion correction and significantly enhanced low-light performance.
Supporting NTSC analog and digital outputs and dual dynamic overlay functions, the OV10626 features colour HDR of up to 120dB and low-light sensitivity of 15V/Lux-sec. With these features, the sensor captures clear and high quality images even in extremely challenging lighting conditions.
Shipping to multiple global tier-1 automotive suppliers, the OV480 corrects lens distortion of up to 195°. By allowing a single camera design to be used across multiple vehicle platforms, the device can significantly reduce design and integration costs associated with rear-view and 360-degree surround view systems. Top-down and perspective views provide clear imaging for specific rear-view driving functions (e.g. trailer ball hitching), while a cross-traffic view feature enables drivers to view traffic from both sides of the vehicle.
Inayat Khajasha, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Automotive Products, OmniVision, comments: “This unique system-on-a-chip solution gives OmniVision a quantum leap forward in automotive imaging. Conventionally, HDR and high sensitivity have been mutually exclusive in automotive imaging. With the OV10626, however, we now offer both features in a compact, single-chip solution.”
Claimed to be the industry’s most compact and efficient package available, the OV10626 is supplied in OmniVision’s proprietary AutoVision chip-scale package. Leading the way in electronic distortion correction solutions for automotive vision, the OV480 has a compact form factor, highly competitive price point and variety of image enhancement features.
