Audi chooses Altera SOC FPGAs for driver assistance
Altera has announced that its SoC FPGAs have been selected for use in Audi’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) targeted for mass production. Audi and Austrian high-tech company TTTech chose the Altera Cyclone V SoC FPGA for its ability to increase system performance and enable the differentiated features Audi requires for piloted driving and parking.
Low-latency graphics bring autonomous vehicles a step closer
Driving simulator software, originally developed for Formula 1, will enable vehicle manufacturers to test Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technologies more accurately than ever before, says maker rFpro. The company believes many of the challenges faced by ADAS developers can be reduced by validating the control system response more comprehensively with a Driver-In-the-Loop (DIL) prior to installation on the vehicle.
GNSS technology enables V2X system
GNSS technology from u-blox has been selected by Cohda Wireless for use in its Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) equipment, collectively called ‘V2X’. MK5, the Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) based V2X system is a next-gen ADAS, enabling early warning of an imminent collision, oncoming traffic, presence of road workers and unsafe speed based on vehicles in the vicinity.
Streaming bandwidth increase aids driver assistance systems
The MOST Cooperation (MOSTCO) – the standardisation organisation for the leading automotive multimedia network Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) – has announced the latest MOST150 architecture, enabling a streaming bandwidth of up to 1.2 Gbit/s. A multiport network interface controller allocates the true, full bandwidth of up to 150 Mbit/s in up to 8 branches.
Toshiba Launches New Line-up of Image Recognition Processors
Toshiba Electronics Europe has expanded its line-up of image recognition processors with the launch of the TMPV760 series. Supported by 14 hardware-based image recognition accelerators, the first device in this new series will support the implementation of next generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs).
