A collaboration between Keysight Technologies and Telia Finland aims to accelerate commercial 5G New Radio (NR) deployments. 5G networks will revolutionise industrial internet of things (IIoT) to support reduced latencies, higher reliability and a greater number of connected devices.

5G will be available across the entire UK as black-spots are being identified by researchers at the School of Engineering, University of Warwick. The project COCKPIT-5G has won a £210,000 grant from Innovate UK, once they’ve identified black-spots they can enhance connectivity for businesses, AI (Artificial Intelligence), driverless cars and manufacturing.

The BBC has commenced the trial of live radio broadcasts over 5G mobile networks. The trial is taking place in Stronsay, Orkney and will run for an initial six weeks. It’s part of the wider 5G RuralFirst initiative, where several other trials will also explore the potential of 5G for rural businesses and communities across the country.
