We are pleased to announce the first London 3D Publishing Conference on November 20th at IDEALondon in London’s Tech City.

As there can be no 3D publishing without 3D content, this one day conference will focus on the tools and processes as well as the legal issues and new developments in what promises to become a huge business opportunity over the next few years.

The event is moderated by Ivan Pope of Thingmakers, a longstanding internet entrepreneur and writer, who said, “3D printing is growing to a massive industry, but this industry will need content, systems and distribution to make it function. The 3D printing conference will examine the content industry and hear from some of the major players. This is one of the most exciting developments in the last twenty years.”

The London 3D Publishing Conference will focus on new opportunities for traditional publishers, content rich organisations, brands, entrepreneurs and others in the field of 3D print publishing. There is no doubt that for 3D printing to prosper, there must be items to print, marketplaces where those items can be found and secure distribution channels.

Confirmed speakers include Adobe, Nanning de Jong of the Rathenau Institute on 3D publishing platforms: dynamic market and communities, Maurits Westerik from Bird & Bird, examining the legal implications of 3D printing and content, Chris Thorpe from Icanmake, Seena Rejal, CEO/Founder of 3D Industries talking about powerful tools and solutions and Dalia Lasaite, CMO from CGTrader.

Maurits Westerik from Bird and Bird solicitors said, "Again, a new manufacturing technology forces existing industries to adapt or be swept away. Classical business models and legal approaches to content do not fit easily onto customizable content, let alone content designed to have technical functionality and 3D printing designers still lack the experience and sheer business power of the content publishing industry. There is work to do here for those who want to learn from the past and get ready for the future."

Speakers will examine digital distribution of 3D models and the rise of 3D publishers to leverage technologies, connections, and reputation to launch new marketplaces and distribution systems. The conference will hear how 3D model creators, designers and authors will find income and careers in the digital marketplaces and how printing specialists will partner with content owners with in order to fill their production facilities. Sessions will examine how a wider ecosystem of specialists in the management and promotion of 3D printing networks will arise.

Case studies from existing companies working in the space and from startups bringing new models and tools to the table will demonstrate legal and technical issues, marketplaces, distribution networks, control and ownership issues and look at how some of the biggest brands in the world are undertaking their first steps into 3D Publishing.

The 3D Publishing Conference is part of a successful series of focused 3D Printing conferences in Europe, initiated and organized by Jakajima, Matchmaker for Innovators in the high tech industry. Jakajima, based in the Netherlands, bring innovators from different value chains and different professions together, in order to endeavour innovations and to create new partnerships, products and services.
