3D print your own fume extraction system connector
What better way to attach an atmosphere and air management system to a 3D printer than by printing the connector yourself?
3D printing filtration specialist BOFA has made .STEP files are available to download via its website so that manufacturers and end-users can print their own connector for a 3D PrintPRO 2, 3 or 4 extraction unit. BOFA recommends using PLA as the feed material because of its durability and ready availability.
The .STEP files can be downloaded via https://bofainternational.com/print-your-own
Current options for connectors are available for 3D printers with exhaust fans. Before downloading, users need to measure the outer dimensions of the fan or fan housing on their 3D printer and then select the appropriate file.
Shravya Nahar, Product Manager at BOFA, commented: “We decided to make ‘print your own connectors’ available in response to customer requests to improve ease of connectivity with our extraction systems. With such a wide variety of designs for 3D printers available, we wanted to create an easily accessible library of on-demand parts for all attachment possibilities, starting with the most common connection point – exhaust fans.”
For those who do not have exhaust fans on their 3D printer, BOFA is developing more connection options which will be available very soon.
