Thermopile-Based Occupancy Detector for People Counting Applications Reference Design
Texas Instruments
The Thermopile Based Occupancy Detector is a subsystem solution that uses a thermopile array to sense the body heat of people within its field of view and estimate the number of people present. This system requires less signal processing complexity than a video system to estimate the number of people present and uses less power.
Features
- Thermopile array senses area occupants’ body heatSystem estimates the number of people it sees by counting heat signaturesLow Noise: Low Power Analog Front End with 16 bit ADC and SPI Interface: uses only 221µA during operationUses less than 190 mW during operationThis circuit design is tested and includes firmware: design data and a detailed User Guide
