Vishay's new TMBS rectifiers at Rutronik: Space-saving, high-power density
Rutronik is expanding its rectifier portfolio with five new types for 60, 100, and 150V: The surface-mount Trench MOS Barrier Schottky (TMBS) rectifier series VxNL63-M3, VxNM63-M3, VxN103-M3, VxNM103-M3, and VxNM153-M3 from Vishay come in particularly compact DFN3820A housings with wettable flanks.
With higher current ratings and an up to 50% higher power density than conventional SMA packages, and 12% higher power density than SMF packages, they provide a highly efficient and space-saving solution for commercial, industrial, and energy applications and are also available as an AEC-Q101 qualified version for the automotive industry at the Rutronik website.
As the first product line in the new Power DFN family, the DFN3820A housing scores particularly well with its small footprint of 3.8mm x 2.0mm and low height of 0.88mm for even more efficient use of PCB space. The DFN housing is 60%, 44%, and 35% smaller than conventional SMB (DO-214AA) and SMA housings (DO-0214AC and SOD128). At the same time, the optimised copper mass design and advanced die placement technology enable excellent thermal performance, allowing operation at higher rated currents. The rectifiers are suitable for use at high temperatures of up to +175 °C. The wettable flanks of the DFN3820A package enable automatic optical inspection (AOI), making X-ray inspection obsolete.
The optimised forward voltage drop (best in class) to 0.45V reduces power losses while increasing efficiency. They are also ideal for automated assembly.
