Unipower Adds Intelligent Control to its Compact DC Power System
UNIPOWER Telecom has added the intelligent control capabilities of its recently announced DSC1000 controller to its popular Gravitas X100 DC power system, an ultra-compact, fully integrated DC standby system designed to power a variety of telecom and other systems requiring 12, 24 or 48VDC. The system consists of three high power-density, hot-swap rectifier modules, a DC power distribution section and, now, an intelligent control section.
The Maximum system output is 60A at –54.4VDC, 99A at +27.2VDC or 100A at +13.6VDC. In redundant mode the output currents are 40, 66, and 50A respectively.
The DC distribution section can be configured with up to eight load circuits protected by circuit breakers or up to ten load circuits protected with GMT fuses.
There are also one or two battery string breakers and a low-voltage battery disconnect (LVD). Temperature compensated battery charging is also an standard feature, including a temperature probe.
The new digital controller section offers local or remote monitoring via an Ethernet TCP/IP connection with optional simple network management protocol (SNMP). This allows the controller to measure and monitor as standard a wide variety of system parameters including rectifier failure, AC power fail, bus status, battery status, rectifier and load current, overvoltage and overtemperature. Users can define up to six parameters of their choice.
The system has front panel LED indicators for a range of alarm and status conditions as well as an LED display indicating system load current.
All power connections to the system are at the rear to terminal blocks while signal and alarm connections are made via spring clamp terminals, thus eliminating the need for any tools other than a screw driver for installation.
