Top 5 power products in January
Electronic Specifier takes a look at the top power products to have been released in January 2023.
Hybrid power drive module solution designed for electric aviation
Microchip have announced a comprehensive hybrid power drive module, the first variant introduced in the new product line of power devices that will be available in 12 different variants with either silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs or insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs).
These hybrid power drive modules are highly integrated power semiconductor devices that reduce the number of components and simplify the overall system design. The configurable power devices include a three-bridge topology that are available in SiC or Si semiconductor technologies. Offering a compact design and low weight and profile, these high-reliability power devices help reduce the size and weight of MEAs. (Read more)
Vishay debuts new series of Hyperfast rectifiers
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the first two devices in its new Gen 7 platform of 1200 V FRED Pt Hyperfast rectifiers.
Offered in the SMA (DO-214AC) package, the 1 A rectifiers offer the best trade-off between reverse recovery charge (Qrr) and forward voltage drop for devices in their class. Optimised for industrial and automotive applications, the Vishay Semiconductors VS-E7MH0112-M3 and AEC-Q101 qualified VS-E7MH0112HM3 are designed to increase the efficiency of auxiliary functions and low power stages for AC/DC and DC/DC converters. Candela reveals 'world's longest-range' electric boat with Polestar batteries and DC charging
With up to 57nm (65 miles) of expected range and DC charging, the foiling Candela C-8 'powered by Polestar' is designed to upend the hegemony of fossil fuel boats.
The Candela C-8 will use the same 69kWh battery pack and DC charging technology as the Polestar 2 and has an expected range of up to 57 nautical miles (65 miles) on one charge at a cruising speed of 22 knots (25mph). The company claim the range is two to three times longer than what conventional electric speedboats can achieve at high speed and compares favourably with how internal combustion engine powerboats are used. Magnachip's 150V MXT MOSFET for Light Electric Vehicles
Magnachip announces the company has launched its 8th-gen 150V MXT Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) optimised for Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) motor controllers and battery management systems (BMSs).
This newly-released MOSFET (MDT15N054PTRH) features Magnachip’s 8th-gen trench MOSFET technology to lower RDS(on)2 by 28%, as compared to the previous generation. Based on the enhanced design of the core cell and termination, a high figure of merit can be achieved and an increase in the total gate charge3 can be avoided. (Read more)
ASRock Industrial releases upgrades in industrial motherboards
ASRock Industrial has introduced a range of upgrades in industrial motherboards powered by 13th Gen Intel Core Processors (Raptor Lake-S) with up to 24 cores and 32 threads, supporting Intel W680, Q670, and H610 chipsets.
Featured as the first DDR5 ATX motherboards, the IMB-1714, IMB-X1714, and IMB-1713 are brand-new selections while encompassing upgraded support for the 12th Gen Intel CPU motherboards line up through BIOS update.
