‘Brick’ format DC/DCs offer 20A output

Two new ranges of cost-effective switching regulators are available from RECOM - the RPMGQ-20 and RPMGS-20. Both are open-frame, through-hole, non-isolated DC/DC buck converters with an 18V-75V input.

Optional nominal outputs are 5V or 12V trimmable over a wide range, 3.3V to 8V and 8V to 24V respectively. Output current for all variants is 20A and the RPMGQ-20 is in an industry-standard quarter-brick format while the RPMGS-20 is in the emerging standard package size of 36.83 x 34.04mm with a standard sixteenth brick pin-out. Both products have a maximum height of 15mm from their mounting surface.

The efficiency of both variants is very high, peaking at 98% for the 12V output versions and 94% for 5V output, with a nearly-flat efficiency curve down to around 10% load. Remote sense and control input is provided and the products feature comprehensive protection against input undervoltage, output over-current, short circuits, and over-temperature.

The AIM-TTi SMU4000 Source Measure Unit series from Saelig

Saelig Company, Inc. has introduced the AIM-TTi SMU4000 Source Measure Unit Series which integrates a fast and agile high power, four quadrant voltage/current source with advanced precise voltage/current meters as an all-in-one test solution.

Precisely supplying positive and negative voltages, sourcing or sinking power, while simultaneously measuring both current and voltage, makes these instruments ideal for rapid I-V characterisation. The PowerFlex autoranging design provides semi-constant power characteristics at ±3A so that the current capability rises as the voltage falls – unlike conventional SMUs where the maximum power can only be achieved at the top of each voltage range.

AC-DC power modules bring benefits of higher density in a small form factor

In the quest for the holy grail of high power density in a compact power supply, the CBM101S single output AC-DC modules have a profile height of just 17mm (0.67 inch).

The fanless power supplies have continuous short-circuit, over-voltage and over-temperature protection. As a result, they are suitable for a range of space-constrained industrial applications, including automation equipment, test & measurement instrumentation, telecom and network devices.

The full brick AC-DC power supplies have a universal input range from 90 to 264Vac with outputs of 12, 24, 28, 36 or 48V. The 100W AC-DC power supplies are capable of 100W (peak power is 120W for five seconds).

In-rush current is below 8.5A, with a low leakage current of 0.25mA and no-load input power consumption is <0/5W. Efficiency is up to 94.5%.

Retimers with adaptive equalisation and bidirectional capabilities

Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) is targeting growing opportunities in USB Type-C technology, and lower power operation needs, with  two new bit-level retimers.

The diodes PI2DPT1021 and PI2DPT821 devices are for use in laptop and desktop PCs, as well as docking stations, computer peripherals, game consoles, and active cables. They provide a compelling combination of power efficiency in line with modern CPU platforms, compact form factors, and advanced functionality.

The retimers each feature receiver adaptive equalisation, which means that both long trace and short trace applications can be addressed. This function enables channel loss compensation up to -23dB for signal transmissions at 5GHz speeds and -18dB for 4.05GHz speeds plus jitter cleaning, without the need for a local reference clock.
