NXP Introduces GreenChip Resonant Controller With Integrated Power Factor Correction
NXP Semiconductors today announced the GreenChip TEA1713 resonant half-bridge converter – the industry’s first resonant controller with integrated Power Factor Correction (PFC), capacitive mode protection and adaptive deadtime control. The high-performance GreenChip TEA1713 is a cost-effective solution enabling designers to build highly efficient, highly reliable resonant power supplies. Typical applications include power supplies above 90 W for LCD TVs, plasma TVs, PCs and slim line adapters, as well as high-quality industrial and medical power supplies.
The “Adapters and power supplies are becoming slimmer than ever, even for large TV displays and desktop computers, raising significant challenges for power supply designers,” said Edwin Kluter, marketing director, power solutions business line, NXP Semiconductors. “By offering an integrated resonant controller with PFC, the GreenChip TEA1713 makes it straightforward for designers to build highly efficient compact power supplies for ultra-flat notebook adapters, flat panel displays and desktop PCs. NXP’s strong heritage in High Performance Mixed Signal applications, particularly lighting, has made it possible for us introduce innovations in processing resonant-type signals while offering maximum protection in a single integrated chip.”
