TDK-Lambda adds further models to its popular Genesys 3.3kW and 5kW compact 2U format programmable power supplies to increase application reach. The new models offer the same high efficiency, flexibility and reliability for which TDK-Lambda Genesys™ products have become well renowned, and complement existing models in the Genesys™ 1U, 2U, 3U and Half-Wide portfolio that covers power ratings from 750W to 15kW.
The new 0 - 200Vdc output models, available in both the Genesys™ 3.3kW and 5kW, are ideally suited for applications related to the testing of solar cell arrays, and for use in electrolysing sulphuric acid in water purification plants. Extending the Genesys™ 5kW range, models with 0 - 400Vdc and 0 - 500Vdc outputs offer an excellent option for use with the manufacture and test of flat-panel television displays, where high-power, high-voltage DC supplies are a common requirement. They are both ideal for industrial applications that utilise high power halogen heaters which typically require between 200V and 400V to drive them.

As with all of the Genesys™ 3.3kW and 5kW models, these power supplies have three-phase inputs for operation from 170 to 265Vac or from 342 to 460 V, and the 3.3kW models are additionally available in single-phase versions suitable for operation from 170 to 265 Vac.

Like all of the programmable power supplies in the Genesys™ range, the new models feature active power factor correction, and extensive safety features, including user-selectable Safe-Start and Auto-Re-Start options. With Safe-Start, the power supply returns to the last used settings after a power interruption, but with the output disabled. With Auto-Re-Start, the supply resumes normal operation without intervention after a power interruption, thereby meeting typical requirements for unattended use.

Common to all Genesys™ models is a built-in RS232/485 interface. Using this, up to 31 power supplies may be controlled in daisy chain over an RS485 line. Analogue remote programming is user selectable 0 - 5V or 0 - 10V via DIP switches on the rear panel.

Other digital and isolated analogue interfaces are optional: the IEEE digital interface is IEEE-488.2 and SCPI compliant, and a wide selection of LabVIEW™ drivers is available. Isolated analogue programming options include either 0-5V and 0-10V, or 4-20mA control. An LXI-compliant LAN interface is also available.
Higher power systems can be realised by connecting up to four units in parallel. In advanced parallel configuration, the master unit reports total system output current, which means that the four units appear as a single power supply, increasing flexibility for system designers.

CE marked in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive, Genesys™ conducted and radiated EMI conforms to EN55022-A, FCC-A. Safety approvals include UL60950-1 and EN60950-1. All models carry a five-year warranty.
