StoreDot has reached a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first company globally to achieve over 2,000 consecutive XFC cycles, with the silicon-dominant battery cells maintaining more than 80% of their initial capacity. This development means EV drivers can rapidly charge their vehicles in minutes daily without concern for battery health.

These remarkable results, showcasing high energy density, were achieved with cells reaching at least 330Wh/kg and 860Wh/L at stack level. The cells were consistently charged from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes, demonstrating a charge rate of 4.2C, while being discharged at a rate of 1C.

Battery cycle life is gauged by the number of charge and discharge cycles a battery can undergo before its capacity falls below the industry standard of 80% of the original capacity. The achievement of battery cells capable of enduring 2,000 cycles while maintaining the 80% capacity retention benchmark represents a significant industry milestone, significantly exceeding current and forthcoming EV durability regulations. These results allow for margins for other ageing factors in real-world scenarios, translating to longevity and extended battery life, thus offering EV owners high market value.

In March 2022, StoreDot announced it had reached 1,250 cycles with smaller cells. Since then, the company has been scaling up and validating its technology while testing it with over 15 EV car brands using EV cell capacity of 30Ah, which has now surpassed the remarkable 2,000 XFC cycles mark.

This landmark achievement marks another significant milestone on StoreDot's path towards commercialisation, demonstrating the maturity, stability, and durability of its innovative XFC technology.

Yaron Fein, StoreDot Executive Vice President of R&D, stated: "Exceeding 2,000 cycles with our extreme fast charging cells cements StoreDot's status as a frontrunner in battery technology innovation for electric vehicles. This milestone validates the exceptional long-term performance and reliability of our silicon-dominant XFC batteries as we quickly move towards commercialisation. StoreDot continues to lead, consistently achieving our milestones and fulfilling the promise of providing car manufacturers with a reliable, proven extreme fast charging solution that aligns with their zero-emission objectives and timelines."

StoreDot recently outlined its anticipated milestones for 2024, which include showcasing the world's first EV pack equipped with XFC technology, dispatching prismatic B-samples to OEMs, signing strategic manufacturing agreements, and expanding operations in the US on the road to commercialisation.

StoreDot is on course with the production readiness of XFC cells capable of delivering 100 miles of charge in 5 minutes this year. The company aims to achieve 100 miles charged in 4 minutes by 2026 and 100 miles charged in 3 minutes by 2028.
