Space-saving power supplies from TTi are said to use less energy
The new PL series from TTi is a range of linear regulated laboratory power supplies with a very small bench footprint. They incorporate a phase-controlled pre-regulator to limit heat dissipation and reduce energy consumption. Unlike conventional linear regulated power supplies which dissipate most of their power as heat when supplying low output voltages, the new PL series limits the internally generated voltages, resulting in much better energy efficiency.
The The new PL series has a very high power density for a linear regulated power supply, offering up to 90 W from a case just 107 mm wide (1/4 rack 3U). This gives it an unusually small bench footprint so that it takes up less space on a crowded bench. For rack-mount application, up to four units can be mounted into a single 3U slot.
Voltage and current are set using conventional analogue controls, but digital circuitry is incorporated to enhance the functionality. For example, the settings can be locked at the touch of a button. Other features include V-Span, which enables the range of the analogue controls to be limited to any user-defined span.
High measurement accuracy is matched by excellent regulation and the ability to regulate at the load using the switchable remote sense function. For users working on lower power circuitry, a low current range is available which provides setting and measurement resolution down to 0.1 mA.
Three single-output models are currently available offering 0 to 15 V, 0 to 30 V or 0 to 60 V. A dual-output model offers two outputs of 30 V at up to 3 A or a single output at up to 6 A.
