Princeps' power-packed journey with on-systems
In a notable development for the electronics sector, Princeps Electronics has expanded its reach into the power market.
This strategic advancement was made possible through a partnership with on-systems, a well-established UK-based designer and manufacturer of power systems suited for demanding environments.
A leap into the power market
This partnership marks a major stride for Princeps, an accredited distributor specialising in sourcing hard-to-find and obsolete electronic components.
David Nash, Sales Director, Princeps, explains: "Our goal at DSEI was to come and support on-systems ... we've just embarked on a new agreement with them." By becoming the UK and European stocking distributor for on-systems, Princeps is not only broadening its reach but also deepening its expertise, especially in supplying high-reliability sectors like aerospace and defence.
The Princeps advantage
Princeps, established in 2006, has carved a niche in distributing electronic, electrical, and e-mechanical components, particularly for high-reliability applications. Their rigorous adherence to standards, exemplified by AS9120 and AS6081 accreditations, positions them as a reliable and quality-focused supplier.
David highlights this strength, noting: "We have a couple of accreditations ... which entitles you to supply into that sector." Their in-house inspection and testing capabilities ensure the highest component quality and reliability, making their venture into the power market with on-systems a strategic and logical progression.
The synergy with on-systems
on-systems, known for its rugged and efficient power supplies, stands to gain from Princeps’ established network and market knowledge. Princeps will hold stock of all standard on-systems power supply units, beginning with the Boa family of Mil-COTS DC/DC power supplies. This collaboration allows on-systems to concentrate more on custom and bespoke designs, addressing specific needs in high-reliability environments.
A game changer for engineers
This partnership represents a significant shift for Princeps, allowing them direct engagement with engineers at the beginning of projects.
David points out the importance of this change: "It’s really going to be a game changer for us because not only do we talk to them about power systems ... we also distribute for other companies." This direct involvement from the design phase through to the supply chain means Princeps can offer more robust and sustainable solutions from the outset.
The alliance between Princeps and on-systems is not just a business expansion; it's a strategic move that enhances their ability to serve the demanding hi-rel sector more effectively.
As David succinctly puts it: "It's all about reputation ... communication, supply, and trust."
This partnership is poised to reshape how Princeps interacts with the industry, offering more comprehensive solutions right from the design stage.
