Power management IC optimised for mini applications processors
ROHM has announced the availability of BD71847AMWV, a highly integrated and efficient power management IC (PMIC) optimised for NXP Semiconductors’ i.MX 8M Mini family of application processors, which features computing, audio, video, and graphics performance. BD71847AMWV is the latest addition to ROHM’s growing portfolio of PMICs designed for NXP’s i.MX application processors.
With the BD71837MWV, which was introduced a year ago to support the high performance i.MX 8M Quad and Dual applications processors, ROHM has power solutions for all members of the i.MX 8M family.
“ROHM is a valued i.MX ecosystem partner. The BD71847AMWV is a good choice for our i.MX 8M Mini applications processors customers looking to maximise performance. It is also available mounted on a reference board, providing a single-chip power solution optimised for processors,” said Leonardo Azevedo, i.MX Senior Director of Marketing at NXP Semiconductors.
i.MX 8M Mini applications processors allow customers to incorporate voice interface to audio/video streaming devices at minimal cost. They integrate up to four Arm Cortex-A53 cores operating up to 1.8GHz along with an Arm Cortex-M4/M7 that operates at up to 400MHz for low standby power consumption.
In addition, support for 1080p video processing, 2D/3D graphics, advanced audio functions, and various high speed interfaces makes the i.MX 8M Mini suitable for a wide range of consumer and industrial applications.
Leveraging ROHM’s expertise in analogue power and advanced BCD process, BD71847AMWV integrates all power rails required by the processor as well as power supplies for DDR and common system IO.
In addition to DC/DC converters with efficiency of 95%, the PMIC features programmable power sequencer for flexible power control and management, seamless hardware control interface to i.MX 8M Mini, buffered sleep clock, protection functions, etc.. The high level of integration, customisations for i.MX 8M Mini applications processors, and programmability help to shorten development time, to lower system BOM cost, and to minimise solution footprint.
Going forward, ROHM will continue to expand its product portfolio to support future members of the i.MX 8M family and to offer optimised solutions for different applications and market segments.
