Power Integrations today announced a new series of technical design seminars to be held in over 40 locations worldwide. The seminars will offer instruction on how to build power supplies with high energy efficiency, excellent standby power performance and compliance with existing and proposed power supply efficiency regulations worldwide.
“Spending time with designers, passing on what we have learned and working with them to optimize power supply designs for efficiency is very important to us ” said Doug Bailey, vice president of marketing, Power Integrations. “Our seminars are suitable for generalist analog engineers who want to learn how to build custom power supplies for their systems. The seminars are also very meaningful for experienced power supply engineers, who will come away with a deep understanding of the new TOPSwitch-HX, and plenty of new ideas that they can use to optimize power delivery and efficiency in their next project.”

The seminars will demonstrate best practices in power supply design using new technologies such as Power Integrations’ TOPSwitch-HX family of AC-DC power conversion ICs, which combine a 700 V switching power MOSFET with a controller and supervisory functions into a single monolithic IC.

Attendees at the free seminars will hear how the new TOPSwitch®-HX enables power supply designs that easily meet proposed and existing energy standards such as CEC and ENERGY STAR, while delivering up to 48 W without the need for heat-sinking (and up to 150 W with a heat sink).

A new multi-mode control scheme provides highly efficient operation across the entire load range, potentially eliminating the need for a separate standby power supply.

Beginning in China in October, the seminars will also be held in Taiwan, Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Brazil, UK, Sweden, Germany, France, Russia, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Poland.
