Excelsys Technologies has introduced the new Xzite 1200W modular power supply approved for use in medical applications. The Xzite family of low noise power supplies has measured background noise of just 59dBA while providing up to 1200 watts output in an extremely compact 1U x 260 x 127mm package.
Offering a power density of 15W/in³ and efficiencies of up to 90%, the Xzite family employs an innovative plug & play architecture that allows users to instantly configure a custom power solution in less than 5 minutes! The Xzite series employs low loss design topologies and the best field-proven technologies in planar magnetics and surface mount electronics to provide unmatched efficiency and high power density.

In addition to medical applications the Excelsys Xzite series will be Ideal for all systems that demand low acoustic noise output. Typical noise sensitive markets include audio, broadcast, telecomms and some IT equipment.

Gary Duffy, Managing Director of Excelsys Technologies, comments. “We have a well established market for medically approved power supplies. With our new Xzite series providing up to 1200 watts output power we will be able to provide an off the shelf solution to many more medical power projects or those required to operate in low noise environments. Our unique ability to provide non-standard voltage combinations without design changes or costly engineering charges really make the Xzite series ideal for the needs of medical electronic equipment ”

The Xzite family consists of 2 powerPac models providing power output levels of 400W or 1200W. Each model may be populated with up to 6 powerMods selected from a range of seven different output configurations including; 2.5V, 5.0V, 12.0V, 24.0V, 48.0V, and 24/24V. As all modules are isolated, polarity is user selectable and modules may be configured in series or parallel for higher output voltages or current. The Excelsys Xzite has a universal input range, 85-264VAC, over voltage protection and will operate at full load up to 40°C. All possible configurations carry full safety agency approvals, UL2601-1, EN60601-1 and are CE marked. Alternative power interfaces are available from the factory. A 5V bias/standby voltage is provided on both powerPacs and front panel LED’s provide visual system status checks.

Typical applications include medical sensors and monitoring systems, audio, broadcast, telecom, instrumentation, n+1 and redundant power systems, test and measurement equipment, printing and IT power.
