Low-Cost, DC-DC Synchronous Controller from Maxim
Maxim has introduced the MAX15026, a low-cost, DC-DC synchronous step-down controller capable of driving external MOSFETs to deliver up to 25A of output current. This device operates over a wide, 4.5V to 28V input range, and it integrates a ±1% accurate voltage reference to provide an accurate output voltage from 0.6V to 85% of the input voltage.
The The MAX15026 uses cycle-by-cycle lossless current sensing to reduce power loss and eliminate the need for an external sense resistor. Other features include soft-start, an analog-enable input, and a power-good indicator. The device also allows monotonic startup into a prebiased bus without discharging the output.
The MAX15026 is offered in a thermally enhanced, 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package, and is fully specified over the -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius extended temperature range. Prices start at $1.10 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
