Littelfuse unveils FDA117 Optically Isolated Photovoltaic Driver
Littelfuse introduces the FDA117 Optically Isolated Photovoltaic Driver, offering a floating power source for isolated switching applications across various industries.
This product is designed to control standard power MOSFETs and IGBTs using a floating voltage source, ensuring isolation between input and output sides. With an input control current range of 5mA to 50mA, integrated fast turn-off circuitry, and 5kVRMS reinforced isolation, the FDA117 effectively drives discrete power MOSFETs and IGBTs.
Key features of the FDA117:
- Operates with input control current as low as 5mA
- Drives standard power MOSFETs and IGBTs
- Generates a floating output voltage from 10.5V to 15.3V
- Integrated fast turn-off circuitry for controlled switching
- 5,000 VRMS reinforced insulation for safety
- Available in 4-pin surface mount and through-hole packages
This versatile product finds applications in various markets, including industrial, energy, building automation, and smart home. Whether used in solid-state relay designs or industrial process control, the FDA117 ensures the necessary isolation to protect equipment and individuals from electrical hazards.
Mark P. Smith, Director of Product Management for Integrated Circuits and MCU at Littelfuse, highlighted the benefits: "To give our customers more flexibility in their application designs, we developed the FDA117 to add a single-channel version to our existing portfolio of Photovoltaic Drivers. High open circuit voltage and short circuit current, combined with 5 kVRMS reinforced isolation voltage, extend the design flexibility."
The FDA117 is available in 4-pin DIP through-hole and surface mount packages, ensuring compatibility with other Photovoltaic Drivers on the market, simplifying integration into existing designs without major modifications.
