Integrated TVS diode solutions for surge protection
Inelco Hunter has announced the availability of two Integrated TVS Diode solutions (Transient Voltage Suppressors) from ProTek Devices, designed to protect DC power lines and Ethernet lines against surge events such as switching and lightning. Both devices feature a highly-integrated design, offering reliable and compact surge protection solutions.
The GPZ1275 is a high power transient voltage suppressor designed to provide protection against long-duration switching transient threats, using a single device to protect DC power lines.
The GPZ1275 is a heavy-duty MIL-STD-1275 device, constructed using hermetically-sealed TVS sub-assemblies. DC applications include military vehicles, heavy-duty motors, and generators or where DC power is being switched on and off at frequent intervals, requiring TVS protection against large surges.
The SMP6LLC05-2P Integrated TVS Diode solution is designed to protect Ethernet interfaces against surge events. Ethernet uses 5V digital signals operating on a 125MHz clock, and two SMP6LLC05-2P devices can be used to protect both pairs of Ethernet lines.
The ProTek SMP6LLC05-2P solution provides ESD protection commonly required in indoor, short-cable applications where ESD is the primary threat. It also provides protection for secondary lightning surges as required by the RTCA DO-160 standard.
Both ProTek protection devices are compliant with IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT), and IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge) standards. They are an excellent protection solution, combined with high reliability and a highly-integrated design.
Markets will include industrial / military / aerospace and the devices can be used in any application needing surge or lightning protection with robust long-life performance.
David Bushnell, managing director of Inelco Hunter commented “Power surges can cause catastrophic failures, but by deploying protection devices, potential problems can be mitigated, keeping equipment and the related processes up and running reliably. ProTek’s surge protection devices help reduce costly downtime and protect electronic equipment against the damaging effects of transients”.
Inelco Hunter can supply the complete ProTek Devices product portfolio, including transient voltage suppressor arrays, avalanche breakdown diodes, steering diode TVS arrays and electronics SMD chip fuses.
Uses include lightning; electrostatic discharge; nuclear electromagnetic pulses; inductive switching; and electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference.
In addition, Inelco Hunter can supply complementary components such as connectors, relays, displays, fans and thermal printers, making them a comprehensive electronic component supplier. Inelco Hunter’s wide product range is backed by an in-house engineering support team, offering design, consultancy and project management services.
