Torex Semiconductor has launched a new compact, high-speed response step-down DC/DC converter with its XC9290/XC9291 series.

The XC9290/XC9291 series features HiSAT-COT control and is a buck synchronous rectification DC/DC converter that achieves the world's smallest mounting area of 3.52mm², high-speed response, and ultra-low noise.

HiSAT-COT control is TOREX's proprietary control method, which offers significantly faster response compared to conventional PWM control. This enables a reduction in capacitor size, allowing stable operation with a 0.6x0.3mm ceramic capacitor. Furthermore, it can use a 1.0x0.5mm coil, contributing to an ultra-compact layout, including peripheral components. Compared to conventional COT control, the XC9290/XC9291 series improves the oscillation frequency variation due to output current changes and the output voltage variation (load stability), resulting in more user-friendly and stable control.

The XC9290/XC9291 series allows you to choose from two high oscillation frequencies, 4MHz and 6MHz. Even at 4MHz, it achieves 90% efficiency with 3.7V input voltage and 1.8V output voltage, contributing to extended battery life and reduced heat generation. Therefore, it is an ideal product for all small devices, including modules and sensors, regardless of whether they are used in consumer or industrial applications, where space-saving is essential.

Furthermore, it achieves low EMI and low ripple, making it suitable for small and densely packed electronic devices. It has minimal impact on peripheral devices in high-density implementations, and the radiation noise from the device is extremely low.

The package options include WLP-5-08 (0.96x0.88x0.33mm) and LGA-6B01 (1.2x1.2x0.3mm), providing the world's smallest solution size, including peripheral components.
