EDLC cell balancing IC reduces mounting area by 38%
Contributing to increased miniaturisation, greater stability and longer life for EDLCs, the BD14000EFV-C cell balancing IC has been released by ROHM. The device integrates over 20 discrete components required for EDLC cell balancing on a single chip, reducing mounting area by 38%. This also eliminates component variations, making it easy to configure EDLC systems.
The AEC-Q100 qualified IC can balance up to 6 cells. For simultaneous control of more cells, multiple ICs can be connected in series. To support a variety of EDLCs, the cell balancing voltage can be set between 2.4 and 3.1V. Alongside flag output, the BD14000EFV-C features an overcurrent detection voltage function with adjustable detection voltage setting based on the cell balancing voltage.
Available now, the BD14000EFV-C cell balancing IC is suitable for energy regeneration applications in industrial equipment, automotive idling stop systems and voltage sag (instantaneous voltage drop) countermeasures.
