Extending its KBox portfolio, Kontron has introduced a family of DIN Rail industrial computers with high-performance Intel processors. The new KBox A-15x family is available with various performance class CPUs, depending on control task complexity and the performance required. The cost-optimised Box PCs are designed particularly compact for flexible deployment on DIN Rail. Its broad range of interfaces allows high interoperability, scalability as well as providing future security.

KBox A-15x family industrial PCs are well suited for deployment in fieldbus environments, process control, as well as industrial firewalls, and a lot of Embedded applications.

High performance at low energy consumption - this tenet applies to all five lines of the new KBox A-15x series. The series is available with Intel Dual as well as Quad Core(TM) processor technology. Versions featuring Intel Celeron J1900 Quad Core(TM), Intel Core(TM) i5-4300/6300/7300U, or Intel Pentium Quad Core(TM) N4200 are currently available.

The KBox A-15x was designed for control cabinet applications: It can be deployed in environments with limited space thanks to the flexible DIN Rail mounting options, the turnable heatsink, and compact design. The fanless, robust design guarantees longevity and high availability despite rough industrial conditions and temperatures between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius.

For linking to the sensor- or machine environment and local data collection, the KBox A-15x offers two serial interfaces (RS232/RS422/RS485); two more serial interfaces can be included depending on the CPU version. Every system features two graphic ports, whereby the models KBox A-151-HSW/152-SKL/153-APL/154-KBL offer four USB 3.0 interfaces each, and the KBox A-150-BT features two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 interfaces. All variants can be expanded by a mPCI card. Additionally, two to three 10/100/1000 MBit/s Ethernet ports are available on all KBox A-15x versions.

The KBox A-15x supports Kontron's Security Solution APPROTECT. In tandem with a specifically developed software framework, it provides full IP and copy/reverse engineering protection through a Wibu-Systems security chip. For secure cloud connectivity, a TPM 2.0 Security Chip is available as an option. The Kontron KBox A-15x series is Microsoft Azure Certified and can be easily used with Microsoft Azure IoT Services.
