Toumaz, the leading provider of ultra-low power wireless telemetry technologies for medical monitoring and internet-connected consumer devices, today announces that its TZ1090 (‘XENIF’) System-on-Chip is now in production in the latest connected audio product from PURE, the world’s leading supplier of DAB and connected radios.

PURE’s ONE Flow delivers internet-connected digital radio with music purchase services in a new small form factor radio and at a market-changing price point. It is enabled by Toumaz’s TZ1090 XENIF device, an advanced 32-bit processor-based SoC that provides comprehensive Wi-Fi, DAB and FM integration in a single chip solution. PURE’s ONE Flow will be available for consumer purchase in time for Christmas in the UK with other territories following.

The TZ1090 XENIF brings together applications processing, communications, Wi-Fi and a graphics and audio subsystem to offer the highest level of integration and performance in the connected audio market. The device is a feature-rich all-in-one platform for the cost-effective development of Wi-Fi connected products.

The TZ1090 XENIF incorporates Imagination Technologies’ very latest 400MHz dual-thread META™ HTP 32-bit RISC processor capable of running Linux and Imagination’s new Flow technology. Flow is a new portfolio of enabling technologies for cloud connectivity, from Imagination Technologies. Flow technology is a comprehensive and unique platform that enables connected devices to interact with cloud services across both internet and broadcast channels. Imagination's Flow technology already powers its PURE division's market-leading Flow range of connected audio products.

Commenting on this milestone first volume implementation of XENIF, Toumaz CEO Professor Chris Toumazou said: “We are delighted to see the first XENIF-based product in the market in time for the important Christmas season. Toumaz is delivering to PURE an advanced SoC that is capable of powering PURE’s portable internet-connected digital radios with Flow technology and enabling an exceptional price point. This is an excellent example of how Toumaz is working closely with market and technology leaders to create timely, risk-reduced technology solutions and enabling the connected consumer future.”

PURE GM Paul Smith said: “We see XENIF from Toumaz as a major step forward in enabling consumer devices that can deliver broadcast radio together with web-based media and content using Wi-Fi, all while creating new and exciting form factors and reaching milestone price points. We congratulate them on delivering XENIF in time for us to bring out this game-changing connected radio ready for the peak season.”
