Intersil's MegaQ Adaptive Equalizer Named Best Video Equalizer of 2010 by EN-Genius Network
Intersil announced its ISL59605 adaptive equalizer IC, also known as MegaQ, has been named a 2010 Product of the Year by EN-Genius network. MegaQ was selected in the best video equalizer category for its ability to provide composite video images over a mile, or 1.6 kilometers, of cable. MegaQ uses advanced analog and digital techniques to automatically equalize video over Cat-5 or coaxial cable. MegaQ delivers video output from various cable types and lengths.
It automatically corrects if installers connect the twisted pair backwards, and can handle color or monochrome and NTSC or PAL signals. No user interaction or adjustments are required to get the best performance; and MegaQ allows the use of existing infrastructure. Video quality does not depend on the installer.According to EN-Genius Network, The distance performance of the ISL59605 - and its silicon siblings -- is out to 1.6 kilometers with Cat-5e cable or RG-59 coax and the parts operate automatically with any composite video input and an optional SPI can be used for signal monitoring functions. The inputs are ac coupled from the Cat-x cabling and the first stage provides differential-to-single-ended conversion as well as dc sync tip restoration. The adaptive equalization stages are followed by an output buffer that can drive a double-terminated 75 ? load. These parts are a major jump forward in distance equalization for Cat-5/-6/-7 video applications with the automated operation offering a quite dramatic increase in installation ease.
We are delighted that EN-Genius Network has recognized the innovation and value of the MegaQ technology, said Huibert Verhoeven, Vice President and General Manager of Intersil's High Speed Infrastructure Products group. EN-Genius' selection of MegaQ as the best video equalizing technology for 2010 represents another tribute to the very talented engineers here at Intersil who developed the innovative technology incorporated in the MegaQ family of devices.
