IDT Power Metering IC Wins Electronic Engineering and Product World Magazine’s Green Power Product Award
Integrated Device Technology, Inc. today announced that its IDT 90E2x family of power metering ICs for smart meters has won a prestigious design award from Electronic Engineering and Product World (EEPW), one of China's leading electronics industry publications.
The IDT 90E2x product family was named Best Application in the Green Power section of EEPW's Power Supply Products Awards 2010. This is IDT’s first family of power metering ICs and has been sold worldwide since its introduction last year, strengthening IDT’s reputation for providing mixed-signal application-optimized solutions. This recognition gives us great pride, especially since these award-winning devices were developed here in China, at IDT's development center in Shanghai. We look forward to growing our presence in the China market by continuing our investment in local engineering design and support, said Sean Fan, vice president and general manager of IDT China. Utilities across the world are developing smart grid technologies to improve their management of scarce energy resources and smart meters are an essential building block of this initiative. Our latest ICs feature the widest dynamic range in the industry with extremely high accuracy, helping to improve the performance of smart meters.”
The IDT metering solutions – comprised of the 90E21, 90E22, 90E23 and 90E24 models – feature a wide dynamic range of 5000:1, enabling manufacturers to consolidate several types of meters, such as 5(20)A, 10(40)A, 15(60)A and 20(80)A, into one standard 5(100)A model. This simplifies the manufacturing process while simultaneously reducing storage requirements and management complexity for utilities.
The new IDT metering ICs are fully compliant with both Chinese and international (IEC and ANSI) standards. The devices are fully programmable and feature an anti-tampering mode for protection against malicious interference with energy meter readings. In addition, the new IDT metering ICs feature low temperature drift for accurate readings in wide range of environmental operating conditions.
The annual (EEPW) Power Supply Products Award program, now in its eighth year, is open to embedded system suppliers worldwide. The publication presents Best Innovation and Best Application awards in six product categories: DC-DC Converters, Power Management, LED Drivers, Power Devices, Battery Management, and Green Power and New Energy Resources. Products are judged by a committee comprised of EEPW editors and advisors, backed-up by outside experts in each field.
