HCD to show full range of EMS capabilities at National Electronics Week
HCD, the Letchworth-based contract electronics manufacturer, is showcasing its EMS services at National Electronics Week at the NEC, Birmingham this month. The company has seen significant business growth over the past year and has a burgeoning order book, a fact it attributes to its strategy of continuous investment in new resources – including extra staff and state-of-the-art equipment.
HCD - which started as a PCB design house - now provides full EMS services, priding itself on its ability to respond to customer demand in a timely yet personal manner. It specialises in fast turn-around, flexible and high quality production. In the last two years, HCD has taken time to completely revamp its Letchworth site, adding a mezzanine floor to almost double the available space. It has added a second Europlacer surface mount line and other advanced equipment including AOI. Last year, the company integrated cable assembly and box-build capabilities to its range of services, having bought the order book of a local cable assembly house. HCD’s success has demanded an increase in workforce and the company now numbers 26 people.HCD is also well-respected for its willingness to support prototype activities - the company is structured to produce one-off orders very quickly so that designers can move rapidly through the development cycle and get to market quickly. HCD can then see a project through production ramp up and into mid-volume production.
Co-founders Gene and Carol Holmes explain: “We are looking forward to talking to existing and potential customers at NEW this year about how using EMS can help them cut direct costs yet be responsive and flexible. We have a superb, highly-experienced workforce and state of the art equipment and can help OEMs with unexpected or seasonal peaks in demand.”
