Maxim has introduced the MAX4950A dual-channel buffer and equalizer designed to re-drive PCIe 1.0 and PCIe 2.0 signals. This device employs two identical signal-amplitude buffers with idle/receive detection to protect against unwanted noise at the output.
To further preserve signal integrity, the MAX4950A features programmable input equalization and programmable output deemphasis to compensate for circuit board losses-all while re-driving high-speed signals at PCIe 2.0 (up to 5.0Gbps) data rates. The MAX4950A is ideal for desktop computers, notebook PCs, workstations, and servers that must carry signals through connectors and/or over long lengths of cable, stripline, and microstrip line.

The MAX4950A also features a power-save mode to reduce quiescent supply current in applications where all channels operate simultaneously. Additionally, an enable pin allows the device to be placed in standby mode to further conserve power.

The MAX4950A operates from a single 3.3V supply, and is fully specified over the 0 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius commercial temperature range. It is available in a small, 6.0mm x 6.0mm, 36-pin TQFN package. Prices start at $4.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).
