Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) is adding to its passive component portfolio for extreme high-temperature environments with a new series of SMD wraparound thin-film chip resistors optimized for use in multichip modules for down-hole drilling and aerospace applications.
The new Vishay Sfernice PHT high-precision wraparound chip resistors feature an operating temperature range from – 55 °C to + 215 °C, with a maximum storage temperature up to + 230 °C, an industry-first for any resistor built on thin film technology. Even with this high temperature rating, the devices feature a load life stability of 0.5 % after 1000 hours at 215 °C, as well as tight TCR and tolerance values. Typical TCR for the new resistors is 25 ppm/°C, with available tolerances down to 0.05 %.

The PHT resistors, which have a 0.5-mm height profile, are available in 0603, 0805, 1206, and 2010 case sizes, with an ohmic range of 10 Ω to 7.6 MΩ, depending on series. Their power ratings range from 12.5 mW to 100 mW.

The PHT devices feature an SMD wraparound construction with gold terminations. An enlarged termination option is available for applications with extraordinary power dissipation requirements.

Samples and production quantities of Vishay's new PHT resistors are available now, with lead times of 11 to 12 weeks for larger orders. Follow Vishay products for extreme high-temperature environments at http://twitter.com/VishayIndust.
