597D Series tantalum chip capacitors expanded by Vishay
Vishay Intertechnology have announced that it has extended its Tantamount 597D series of commercial solid tantalum chip capacitors with a new Hi-Rel version approved to Defense Logistics Agency Specification 13008. With Vishay’s proprietary high voltage dielectric formation process, the Vishay Sprague 13008 series is ideal for +28 V power supply designs in military and aerospace applications.
The Available in nine case sizes, 13008 series capacitors provide a wide array of ratings not previously found in available MIL specifications, including a capacitance range of 10 µF to 1500 µF over a voltage range from 4 V to 63 V. The devices’ 63 V rating allows designers to meet derating requirements of 50 % rated voltage for use in MIL-STD-1275 +28 V power supply designs. Their dual anode construction ensures the lowest ESR in their class, down to 0.015 Ω at +25 °C and 100 kHz.
The 13008 series operates over a temperature range of −55 °C to +85 °C, to +125 °C with voltage derating. With their conformal coating, the capacitors offer better volumetric efficiency than molded devices. This allows for higher capacitance-voltage (CV), a figure of merit that measures the amount of energy a capacitor can store.
Samples and production quantities of the new DLA 13008 capacitors are available now, with lead times of 12 to 14 weeks for larger orders.
