For precision applications requiring surface mount chip resistors with high power demands, self-heating often leads to elevated circuit temperatures.

Wide terminations offer an efficient and cost-effective solution for minimising power-related heat. By reversing the chip resistor's geometry and placing the terminations along its long sides, the hot spot temperature is reduced by 30% to 40%.

Stackpole’s RNWA series is available in the following size / power rating combinations:

  • 0612 rated at 1W
  • 1020 rated at 1.5W
  • 1225 rated at 2W

In addition to operating at cooler temperatures, the RNWA series is anti-sulphur and provides precision tolerances as low as 0.1% and TCR down to 25ppm. Its lower thermal resistance ensures stable and reliable performance at full power. These characteristics make the RNWA ideal for precision, high-power applications such as EV power systems, electric power trains, medical devices, and precision industrial and motor control.

Pricing for the RNWA varies with size, tolerance, and TCR.
