KYOCERA AVX releases TCD series DLA 04051 & COTS-Plus conductive polymer capacitors

These newly introduced high-reliability capacitors are tailored for critical military, aerospace, defense, and industrial uses, such as in power supplies and filtering circuits, meeting the latest DLA 04051 military specifications.

The TCD Series offers conductive polymer capacitors in two sizes (EIA 1210 and 2917), featuring either lead-free, RoHS-compliant 100% tin terminations or tin/lead (Sn/PB) terminations. These capacitors come with specifications of 10–470µF ±10 or 20% tolerance, voltage ratings of 4–50V, and are operational over a temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. Exhibiting high capacitance per voltage (CV), exceptionally low equivalent series resistance (ESR), minimal DC leakage (0.1 CV), and stability across high frequencies, the TCD Series is designed for long-term reliability (2,000 hours at 125°C), demonstrating a benign failure mode when utilized as intended. Furthermore, these capacitors maintain a basic reliability rate of 0.5% per 1,000 hours at 85°C and are tested to endure vibration, surge voltages, rapid test solder heating (RTSH), and biased humidity conditions of 85°C and 85% relative humidity for a minimum of 500 hours.

The TCD Series capacitors undergo thorough statistical electrical and surge current screenings and are offered with two additional testing protocols per DLA 04051. Test option A includes a life test at +125°C for 2,000 hours, while test option B covers vibration, surge voltage, RTSH, and life testing at +125°C also for 2,000 hours.
