Rittal has significantly extended its Ri4Power range for low-voltage switchgear, with the development of new isolator sections. The isolator section layout is based on the familiar components of the Ri4Power system. In tests, the highest configuration variant with complete side panel modules and bar covers achieved internal form separation of up to Form 4b. Depending on the number of cables to be connected, the new Rittal isolator sections are available in section widths of 1000 and 1200 mm, offering a connection space width of approximately 300 and 500 mm respectively.
With a particular focus on targeted, cost-efficient switchgear design, the Rittal multi-terminal busbar system uses flat bars in cross-sections of 50x10, 60x10, 80x10 and 100x10 mm. Successful type testing with both ABB SlimLine and Jean Müller Sasil strips achieved rated currents of the busbar system of up to 2100 A with full section population and a protection category of IP3X. The bars are connected to the main busbar without any drilling whatsoever, thanks to the newly developed terminal blocks; which in turn translates into significant time savings.

During type testing of the new isolator sections, a short-circuit resistance of 100 kA (lcw 1 sec) was successfully proven both in the main busbar system and, in particular, in the 100 x 10 mm distributor bar system.

Device modules from Jean Müller may also be used in the new Ri4Power isolator section, as well as Sasil strips. The device modules have a plug-in contact of up to
630 A to the distributor busbar, and may be equipped with a variety of switchgear and control units. In conjunction with the distributor bar cover, these units may be exchanged while the system is live.
