Hermetically Sealed Resistor from Vishay
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the new hermetically sealed VHP203 miniature ultra-high-precision Z-Foil resistor. The new device provides a low absolute TCR of ±0.05ppm/°C from 0°C to +60°C and ±0.2ppm/°C from −55°C to +125°C, +25°C Ref, an excellent power coefficient (ΔR due to self heating) of ±5ppm at rated power, a tolerance of ±0.001% (10ppm), and a load-life stability of ±0.002% (20ppm).
The The new resistor is built on Vishay’s Z-Foil technology, which provides a significant reduction of the resistive component’s sensitivity to ambient temperature variations (TCR) and applied power changes (PCR). Z-Foil improves stability by an order of magnitude compared to any other resistor technology, allowing designers to guarantee a high degree of accuracy in fixed-resistor applications.
With accuracy of ±0.001% and long-term shelf life of 2ppm for at least 10 years, the new device is optimized for high-precision instrumentation amplifiers, bridge networks, and differential amplifiers in high-accuracy products where humidity resistance and high stability are required. Typical end products include laboratory, metrology, measurement, medical, and test equipment.
The VHP203 allows designers to utilize much better performance and specifications all together in one package. The VHP203 has a load-life stability of ±0.002% for 2000 hours at +60°C at 0.1W; a power rating of 0.3W at +25°C; a low voltage coefficient of <0.1PPM/V; current noise of <-40dB; and thermal EMF of 0.05μV/°C. The resistor offers a fast rise time of 1.0ns without ringing and features a non-inductive (<0.08μH), non-capacitive design.
The device offers the utmost in ESD immunity, withstanding electrostatic discharges exceeding 25kV, for increased reliability. Within a resistance range of 10Ω to 150kΩ, any value at any tolerance is available through calibration at no additional cost.
Samples and production quantities of the VHP203 ultra-high-precision resistor are available now, with lead times of 72 hours for samples, and three weeks for standard orders.
