Cornell Dubilier brand of supercapacitors operate at up to 9WVDC
Knowles Precision Devices, operating under the Cornell Dubilier brand and a part of Knowles Corporation, has introduced its latest Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC) modules, also known as supercapacitor modules, now accessible through New Yorker Electronics.
These advanced modules, deriving from the DGH and DSF Series of Cornell Dubilier's supercapacitors, leverage a three-cell configuration to achieve higher operating voltages and conserve printed circuit board space.
As a division of the globally recognised supplier Knowles Corporation, this announcement follows the 2023 acquisition of Cornell Dubilier, aiming to broaden Knowles' portfolio with high-quality film, electrolytic, and mica capacitors. The newly released supercapacitors are designed for rapid power discharge capabilities far surpassing those of traditional capacitors or batteries.
These supercapacitors are particularly suited for a variety of applications, from solar and wind energy storage, mechanical actuators, and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) to EV transportation power, smart utility meters, IoT devices, pulse battery pack alternatives, memory backup, battery/capacitor hybrids, UPS systems, emergency lighting, LED power, solar lighting, and other significant energy storage needs.
The novel supercapacitors have a voltage rating up to 9.0 WVDC, attributed to the unique three-cell radial-leaded package of the DGH and DSF Series, facilitating a compact design that enables higher operating voltages across a broad spectrum of applications. These series offer capacitance values ranging from 0.33 to 5 Farads, with the possibility of banking multiple devices for enhanced capacitance or voltage.
Key advantages include internal cell balancing for optimal performance and production efficiency, along with cost-effectiveness compared to other market options. The DGH and DSF Series supercapacitors boast high energy density, extremely low self-discharge rates suitable for energy storage applications, and tolerance to wide operational temperatures, ranging from -40 to +65°C for DGH 8.1V/DSF 9.0V and -40 to +85°C for DGH 6.9V/DSF 7.5V. Their low equivalent series resistance (ESR) ensures minimal energy loss for high efficiency, and they are designed to endure over 500,000 charge/discharge cycles, with an operational lifespan of up to 10 years.
New Yorker Electronics, as a franchise distributor for Knowles’ Cornell Dubilier, offers the full suite of Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors, AC and DC Oil Filled Capacitors, Film Capacitors, MICA Capacitors, Ultracapacitors, and Supercapacitors.
