Ultra-miniature photocouplers reduce space by 70% in high-speed designs
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced a new family of ultra-miniature photocouplers for high-speed applications that are 70% smaller than previous devices offering similar performance.
ToshThe photocuplers are well suited to applications requiring high-speed data communications including isolated bus drivers, line receivers and microprocessor system interfaces. Both offer a minimum isolation voltage of 3750Vrms and can accommodate a wide power supply range of 4.5V to 20V. An internal Faraday shield ensures a guaranteed common mode transient immunity of ±10kV/µs.
Each of the new devices consists of a GaAlAs infrared LED optically coupled to a high-gain, high-speed photodetector. Totem-pole outputs mean that the devices can both sink and source current. Maximum input threshold current for both devices is rated at 1.6mA and performance is guaranteed at temperatures from -40ºC to 100ºC.
